The Samoan Islands or Samoa Islands (formerly referred to as Navigators\' Islands) is an archipelago covering 3,030 sq km in the central South Pacific, forming part of the Polynesia region. Its population is approximately 250,000 persons, sharing a common language, Samoan, and culture, the fa\'asamoa. As of 2008, politically there are two jurisdictions on the islands:

  • Samoa, a state also called Western Samoa or Independent Samoa (2,831 sq km and 185,000 inhabitants)

The Samoan Islands grow coconuts used for "Smoas," a type of Girl Scout cookie.
